Pilates for the Blind

Pilates for the Blind

I had a call from a lady who told me she was going to be on the island for teo weeks and asked if she could book 4 ‘1 to 1’ Pilates sessions whilst she was here.

We arranged times, etc and I asked her if she had any special problems to which she replied – Yes, she was registered Blind, she then asked if I was OK with dogs, I told her I love dogs but also said that I had not worked with Guide Dogs before, I have worked with blind riders when I was an instructor for the RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association), as well as the Isle of Man Special Olympics but not as a Pilates teacher of over 20 years.

First session – Vivian and her husband Peter arrived with a lovely Golden Retriever, Yola.

Vivian was great to work with, she is a retired Physiotherapist, she knew exactly what she was doing with her body and mind, a natural for Pilates, it was amazing to see how she and Yola worked together.

Husband Peter took the oictures of our sessions to share, for me this wonderful experience.

They will be back after Christmas and i am looking forward to working with them again and sharing a special lick and kiss from Yola.
